5 Kid Friendly Things to Do in St. Simons Island

Spring Break is right around the corner and summer vacation is just down the block. Now is the time to start planning your fun-filled St. Simon’s Island family vacation! You may be a little worried you won’t find activities that will appeal to all members of your family—the little ones have short attention spans, and the older little ones are upset that you are taking them away from their friends. Being a parent is no job for the weak, but when you vacation in St. Simons Island you have helpers on your side! We at SSI Rentals understand the family vacation dilemma, and we have compiled a list of our favorite kid friendly activities that are guaranteed to bring your family closer together—at least for the duration of your stay!

Neptune Park Fun Zone

Beat the heat as your kids run mild at this adventure-filled water park with water slides, a wading pool, and water gym. There’s also an 18-hole miniature golf course and a playground for the tykes to play at as the parents sit happily on the sidelines, enjoying the break from walking around the island!

Scavenger Hunt for Tree Spirits

About 40 years ago, a local artist decided the island needed more magic, and he proceeded to carve approximately 20 faces—tree spirits—into trees located all over the island. Keep a photo log of all the ones you come across, and follow this link for a map of the ones found on public properties.

Make It a Beach Day!

Many of your SSI Rentals vacation homes come with beach toys and equipment to allow for a fun day of beach frolicking! Stake your claim on a spot of prime beach land, complete with blankets, beach chairs, and umbrellas, and let the fun commence! Younger kids will love sitting at water’s edge, digging in the sand as the water tickles their toes…oh who are we kidding…ALL your kids will love this, and we’re betting some pretty epic sand castles will be created as well!

St. Simons Island Lighthouse Museum

Kids love lighthouses, too, and the opportunity to learn about the storms that have threatened the islands over the years—or to learn about the importance of lighthouses and how they save boats that are lost—is one you will kick yourself if you miss. Your kids will love the views as well—we promise!

Make It a Stay at Home Day!

Sometimes you just need to relax, and staying in and playing at your SSI Rentals vacation home guarantees you won’t be bored. Play video games, swim in the pools, or spend the day watching your favorite Disney movies on the big screen television. Family fun will be reimagined when you spend a day playing at home—book yours today!
