Comedy in St. Simons Island

Heading to St. Simons Island for a night, a weekend, or even longer? Looking for an evening of laughs and lots of fun? A night out at one the nearby comedy clubs ought to do the trick, and there are plenty of upcoming comedy events and venues to choose from. Here’s a list of just a few of our favorite comedy hot spots that are just a quick drive outside of St. Simons.

Savannah Comedy Revue

Located just an hour outside of St. Simons in Savannah, GA, you’ll find the Savannah Comedy Revue, which hosts lots of local talent and annual comedy contests with plenty to win in cash prizes. The 7th Annual Comedy Contest is coming up in November in which celebrity judges will decide which comedian should go home with the $1000 prize for the evening. Comedians include many who have been seen on shows such as “Last Comic Standing,” “Conan,” and networks including “HBO,” “Showtime,” and “Comedy Central.” Upcoming shows this fall include Brian T. Shirley and Dennis Aloia in September and their comedy and magic show, and Jerry Farber and Johnny Porazzo in October with comedy and music combined.

The Wormhole

The Wormhole is one of Savannah’s only venues that regularly hosts stand-up comedy. A monthly stand-up comedian can be enjoyed on the first Saturday of every month, and other comedy shows are booked in between on other days as they come up. Open until 3 AM Monday through Saturday, it’s a great place for live music, a neighborhood bar, late hours, and plenty of laughs.

Savannah Civic Center

The City of Savannah Civic Center will soon be welcoming the Savannah Comedy Festival this October 1st starting at 7 pm. Hosted by Rudy Rush, special appearances will include Michael Blackson, Kountry Wayne, and Cocoa Brown. Tickets start at just $29 for hours of entertainment. The Savannah Civic Center hosts lots of comedy shows throughout the year in addition to numerous other concerts and festivals.

Chuck’s Bar

Chuck’s Bar in Savannah regularly hosts a Tuesday Comedy Open Mic Night from 9:30 PM until 12:30 AM. Located at 201 W River St in Savannah, this local bar is a popular hangout spot for a younger crowd and for local comedians who want to try out their latest acts in the hope of garnering lots of laughter. Plenty of drinks are available at a full bar throughout the night.
