Any foodie will be delighted to attend the annual Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival. This year, the festival is taking place September 16th-18th. The three-day event, presented by Southern Living Magazine, celebrates the magical combination of Southern cooking that is shrimp and grits! For the first time in the festival’s history, this year will sport a statewide cooking competition that will definitively crown “Georgia’s Best Shrimp and Grits.”
In addition to the cooking competition, the festival has a range of activities that is sure to delight everyone in the family! Eat to your heart’s content at the seemingly endless food demonstrations presented by a variety of vendors. There will be over 100 arts and crafts vendors in attendance to satisfy the art lover, wildlife demonstrations for those looking to reconnect with nature, and over 50 craft brewers for the beer lover! There will also be three stages of live music, headlined by Grammy-nominated artist David Nail. If you decide to bring your children along, there is even a special kid’s zone that is sure to keep them entertained. The best part is that general admission to the festival is free of charge!
