How do you know your festival has been successful? On St. Simons Island, we judge the success of our festivals by how long they’ve been around, and this year, our annual New Year’s Bluegrass Festival is about to celebrate 41 years of longevity! Held December 29 – 31 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, the party promises to ring in 2017 with all the right notes!
Every year this festival gets better and better, attracting high quality musicians, and after 40 years, the line-up can’t get much better! Featuring amazing groups like Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, The Seldom Scene, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Marty Raybon and Full Circle, Darin & Brooke Aldridge and so many more, we can’t list them all here, but we can promise these acts will have you dancing in your lawn chairs as you snap your fingers, tap your toes, and sing along to all the old favorites—and some new ones too!
Family Fun for a Great Price!
It can be difficult to find ways to celebrate the New Year with your family; most events are adult oriented and alcohol driven. But the Jekyll Island New Year’s Bluegrass Festival is geared to the entire family! Costing $45 per day for reserved adult admission (or $95 for 3 days) and $25 per day for reserved child admission (7-15 and $50 for 3 days), children under the age of 7 are free with accompanying adult. General admission tickets are even less expensive: $40 per day for adults ($90 for 3 days) $20 per day for children 7-15 ($45 for 3 days). Many New Year’s events can cost more than that for just a few hours, and children may not be welcomed.
The Jekyll Island New Convention Center is the perfect spot to finish out 2016. Located at 75 North Beachview Drive, right on the ocean, the lush landscape and scenic ocean views that surround you could be a tiny bit distracting, but we think you will find it worth it in the end.
At the end of each night, you can cross back over to St. Simons Island with the music still echoing quietly in your head as you fall into a quiet and dreamless sleep in your luxury SSI Rentals vacation home. Book yours today and end 2016 with friends, family, and the 41st annual Bluegrass Festival. 2017 promises to be the best year ever!
