Upcoming Food Festivals on St. Simons Island

If we were truly honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that our favorite part of vacation would ALWAYS be about the food. Sure, it’s wonderful visiting a place we’ve never seen before, and staying in a beachside luxury vacation rental is beyond amazing, but we’re simple folk at heart, and the idea of dining our way around the world gives us chills!

If you share this love of vacation food, your visit to St. Simons Island promises to be a success from day one. Offering everything from the simple biscuits and gravy to fresh seafood and sweet desserts, scheduling your vacation to coincide with one of these upcoming St Simons Island food festivals will be the best idea you’ve had all year!

Georgia Sea Islands Festival

June 2nd is the date for this unique festival that celebrates the contributions of African Americans on our islands over the centuries. It features music, art, and our delicious coastal food. Held at Gascoigne Bluff Park from 11 AM until 6 PM, this family friendly festival offers free admission!

Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival

September may be the best time to visit St. Simons Island, and the cool and dreamy weather is only part of the reason; the main draw has always been the Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival! Held this year the weekend of September 14th through September 16th and featuring free admission, the opportunity to sample the sweet treats from the sea as you listen to live entertainment is one that can’t be ignored. Also offering a craft brew fest and a kids’ zone that your children will adore, this family friendly festival is a local favorite and will soon be your favorite as well!

St. Simons Island Food and Spirits Festival

Sponsored by the King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort and held in October (exact dates to be released soon), this spectacular festival is the event we wait all year for! Offering Tastings Under the Oaks, Flights & Bites, and a Firebox with barbecue being prepared by the best pit masters and chefs in the nation, if you can only afford to get away once in 2018, THIS is the time to do so! Other exciting events that occur during the food and spirits festival include a Southern Hospitality Dinner (proceeds go to Hospice), Cooking & Learning demonstrations, and the Grand Finale, a SPIRITual Sunday Brunch that is the site of the best Bloody Mary bar in town!
