No matter where you turn on your visit to paradise, you can expect to see something new and more wonderful than the last. And because everything only gets better when you rent from us, we’ve provided this list on where you can find the BEST views on St. Simons Island!
St. Simon’s Lighthouse
Located at 610 Beachview Drive, this one is probably a given, as it is one of the highest points on the island, but it’s also a “twofer.” Standing at the base and looking up, the sight of the beautiful white lighthouse standing guard behind the Victorian brick keeper’s cottage will immediately have your inner photographer screaming “photo op!” Once you walk up the 129 stairs to the very top and the views of all of St. Simons Island, the ocean, and the other coastal islands in the area, you may never need to take another scenic picture again in your lifetime! This is one of our favorite things to do on St. Simon’s Island and is THE spot that will capture your heart.
The Glynn County Marshes
Found on both nearby Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island, the salt marshes found here are not just an important part of the natural ecosystem, but a stunningly beautiful and serene sight for the eyes. The green marsh grasses waving in the wind turn a bright gold in the colder months, becoming even more breathtaking, if that’s even possible!
The Bay of Whales – Things to do on St. Simon’s Island
Located just off the right side of St. Simons Island is a spot where the North American right whale does its spawning. Originally called the Bay of Whales, a monument to these magnificent mammals can be found at this scenic site, and the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the whales during spawning season is extremely probable!
Home to massive oak trees that have been growing in this spot for several centuries, Gascoigne Bluff may be peaceful today, but has many times been the site of bloody battles in wars over the past hundreds of years. Today, the serene beauty of the area belies its war torn past and it is a wonderful spot for hiking, bird watching, photography, and all sorts of other things to do on St. Simon’s Island!
